On impact, the tip is driven rearward into the hollow point cavity, mechanically forcing the jacket petals to begin opening before hydraulic pressure alone would initiate expansion. Alloyed lead core. A harder lead alloy — the same engineering choice as the Super-X Subsonic CPHP — improves weight retention and controls the expansion rate. The alloyed core prevents the bullet from fragmenting while allowing the front half to mushroom predictably.
