Description
Remington Premier Match 6.5 PRC 145gr OTM BT — 500 Rounds
The Remington Premier Match 6.5 PRC is Remington’s precision target load in this cartridge.
It is a 145-grain Open Tip Match Boat Tail bullet loaded to Premier Match quality standards for competitive shooting and long-range precision work.
At $1.60 per round for 500 rounds, the Remington Premier Match 6.5 PRC is the largest case count and the lowest per-round cost of any match-grade load in the 6.5 PRC category.
Premier Match — What Remington Means By It
Premier Match is Remington’s designation for ammunition loaded specifically for accuracy. It is not hunting ammunition and is not designed for terminal expansion on game.
Premier Match loading practices are distinct from standard production:
Match-grade bullets. The 145-grain OTM BT bullet uses an open-tip match construction — formed base-first to produce tighter jacket thickness tolerances than conventional hunting bullet manufacturing. Tighter tolerances mean more consistent BC from round to round.
Precise powder charges. Premier Match loads receive individually weighed powder charges rather than volumetric metering. This is the primary driver of low standard deviation (SD) — the metric precision shooters care about most.
Consistent brass. Factory-fresh brass checked for consistent case length, neck dimensions, and flash hole alignment before loading.
Temperature-stable propellant. The powder selection in the Remington Premier Match 6.5 PRC is intended to maintain consistent velocity across ambient temperature ranges — important for competition shooting where a morning zero should still hold in the afternoon.
The OTM BT Bullet
Open Tip Match (OTM) is a construction method, not a terminal performance feature. The open tip is a manufacturing artefact from forming the bullet base-first — it does not expand like a hollow point.
OTM construction produces tighter jacket wall thickness uniformity than conventional cup-and-core methods.
Uniform jacket walls mean more consistent BC from round to round — which is why OTM is the standard for precision shooting competition.
The Boat Tail (BT) base reduces base drag and contributes to the bullet’s BC at extended range.
What This Load Is For
Long-range target shooting, Precision Rifle Series (PRS) competition, and load development.
The Remington Premier Match 6.5 PRC is not a hunting load. The OTM bullet will not expand reliably on game. For 6.5 PRC hunting loads, browse the 6.5 PRC ammunition category.
In some states, OTM bullets may not qualify under hunting regulations regardless of the caliber. Confirm local regulations before field use.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a hunting load? No. Premier Match OTM BT bullets are not designed for terminal expansion on game. For 6.5 PRC hunting loads, see the other products in this category.
What is Premier Match vs standard Remington ammunition? Premier Match uses individually weighed powder charges, match-grade OTM bullets, and a temperature-stable propellant — all aimed at minimising shot-to-shot velocity variation for competitive shooting.
What is the muzzle velocity? Not in the current spec table. Check remington.com for MPN RM65PRC01.
How does this compare to the Barnes Precision Match 6.5 PRC also in this range? Both are 145-grain OTM BT match loads in 6.5 PRC. Barnes uses their Match Burner bullet; Remington uses their own OTM BT. This listing is 500 rounds at $1.60/round; Barnes is 360 rounds at $1.69/round.
Is there a 1,000-round option? Yes — the Additional Information tab lists a 1,000-round variant. Check the tab for pricing.
What does low SD mean for competition? Low standard deviation (SD) means bullet exit velocity is consistent from shot to shot. Lower SD means more predictable drop and drift at distance — critical when building a firing solution for a competition stage.
Is it lead-free? No — conventional lead-core OTM construction.
What’s the per-round cost? $800 / 500 = $1.60 per round — the lowest match-load per-round price in the 6.5 PRC category.
