Description

Nosler E-Tip 6.5 PRC 120 Grain — 220 Rounds

The Nosler E-Tip 6.5 PRC is a lead-free, solid copper-alloy hunting load at 3,100 fps.

It is built for hunters in states with lead restrictions and for anyone who wants maximum weight retention on deer and elk-sized game.

The Nosler E-Tip 6.5 PRC is season-grade ammunition at $1.82 per round — not a practice load.

Why Lead-Free Matters Here

The E-Tip is Nosler’s lead-free hunting bullet. It qualifies under California’s Condor Zone regulations and similar restrictions in other states that prohibit lead ammunition for hunting.

Outside those states, solid copper construction still offers a practical benefit.

95%+ weight retention means the bullet stays together through heavy bone — it penetrates to vitals on quartering shots that shed weight from conventional cup-and-core bullets.

The E-Tip Bullet — Four Design Elements

OD Green polymer tip. Initiates expansion on impact and improves BC over a flat-base configuration. The tip is seated with consistent depth for uniform performance across the production run.

Expansion Control Ring (ECR). A circumferential ring machined into the bullet shank that limits the rearward peel-back of the petals. Without it, solid copper bullets can over-expand or fragment at close range. The ECR keeps expansion controlled across a wide velocity window.

E Cavity. The exclusive energy expansion cavity is a dual-chamber zone behind the tip that drives the Nosler E-Tip 6.5 PRC bullet’s stopping power. The forward chamber initiates the mushroom; the rear chamber controls the final diameter. Combined with the ECR, this produces 95%+ weight retention across the velocity spectrum the Nosler E-Tip 6.5 PRC will encounter in the field.

Boat tail base. Reduces base drag for improved BC at longer range and eases chambering from a magazine.

What This Load Is For

Deer, elk, antelope, and similar medium-to-large game where lead restrictions apply or where penetration through heavy bone matters.

This is not a target or match load. The E-Tip is designed for terminal performance, not BC optimisation for competition.

Cartridge specifications are published by SAAMI and additional E-Tip data by Nosler directly. Safe storage guidance is available from the NSSF.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this really lead-free? Yes — solid copper-alloy construction throughout. No lead core. Qualifies under California’s lead-free hunting regulations and similar state requirements.

What is the E-Tip vs Partition vs AccuBond? The E-Tip is Nosler’s lead-free hunting bullet. The Partition and AccuBond use lead cores. For lead-free compliance, only the E-Tip qualifies.

What is the Expansion Control Ring? A machined ring on the bullet shank that limits how far the copper petals peel back on expansion. Without it, solid copper bullets can over-expand at close range; the ECR keeps performance consistent across velocities.

What’s the weight retention? 95%+. Solid copper bullets inherently retain more weight than bonded lead-core bullets, because there is no core to separate from the jacket.

Is this good for elk? Yes. 3,100 fps with 95%+ weight retention and controlled expansion covers elk at hunting distances. Confirm adequate energy at your expected range using Nosler’s ballistic calculator.

Can I reload the brass? Yes — standard Nosler brass, Boxer-primed, reloadable.

How many rounds is 220? 11 × 20-round boxes.

What’s the per-round cost? $400 / 220 = $1.82 per round.
